Why a cat harness is different

Cats have a head narrower than their neck. A collar comes off backwards. A dog harness sits wrong on a feline ribcage and they reverse straight out of it.

This is a vest-style harness, not a strap harness. The load spreads across the chest and shoulders instead of pulling on the throat, and there's no gap for a backing cat to slip through.

Sizing — read this before you order

Most harness returns are sizing returns, and most sizing returns happen because someone guessed.

1. Measure the chest — wrap a soft tape around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs. Snug, not tight: two fingers should slide under.
2. Measure the neck at the base, where a collar would sit.
3. Weight is a rough guide only. Two 10 lb cats can need different sizes. The tape wins over the scale every time.

What this harness won't do

It won't make your cat walk like a dog. Most cats don't heel — they explore, freeze, and flop over. That's normal. This is a safety tether, not a walking system.

It won't work on day one. Put it on indoors for five minutes a day for two weeks before you travel. A cat who meets a harness for the first time at an airport will not have a good day.

It isn't escape-proof against a truly panicked cat. Nothing is. It's dramatically better than a collar, and that's the honest claim.
